The Trinidad and Tobago Game Fishing Association/TTGFA, held its 20th Annual Junior Angler fishing tournament on Saturday 7th July, 2018 at the Trinidad and Tobago Yacht Club in Glencoe.
There were 25 boats entered in the tournament with a total of 78 Anglers (56 male & 22 Female) ranging from 5 to 16 years old.
A total of 790 lbs of fish made it to the scale of which 272 lbs. were Kingfish, 51 lbs Carite, 231 lbs Cavali, 25 lbs of Bacchine,190 lbs of Bonito and 22 lbs of Barracuda. Over 600 lbs of the day’s catch were donated to various charities.
Team ‘Intrepid’, with anglers Jade and Tristan Llanos from Tobago took home the Best Boat Prize for the tournament. Second Place went to the Boat ‘Scatter Brain’ with anglers Scott Wortman, Adam Alcantara, Shane Sheppard and Chad Ferreira and third place went to ‘Let it Fly’ with anglers William Skinner, Isabel Skinner and Victoria Skinner.
Messi Gurley on the boat ‘Knot Nice’ came first in the 5- 7 female group, while Tristan Llanos on “Intrepid” also came first in the 5-7 male age group.
Jade Llanos on the boat ‘Intrepid’ came in first in the 8- 10 female, and in the male category, Shane Telfer on ‘Sea Hunter’ placed first.
Andrea Thompson on the boat ‘Fish Finder’ placed first in the 11-13 female category. In the male category, William Skinner on the boat ‘Let it Fly’ came in first place for the 11 – 13 age group.
Kathryn Bodden on the boat ‘Ton Nen’ took first place in the 14-16 female age group, with Scott Wortman on the boat ‘Scatter Brain’ coming in first for the Male 14-16.

Heaviest Bachine – Jacob Agostini
Heaviest Barracuda – Tristan Llanos
Heaviest Bonito – Luke Xavier
Heaviest Carite – Noah Sheppard
Heaviest Cavali – Intrepid
Heaviest King Fish – Lizzy Wortman
Special prize was given to team ‘Reel Tough’ for displaying true sportsmanship and honesty.
